Blackjack For Beginnners
Basic Strategy
The aim of blackjack is to build a hand value that is nearer to 21 than the dealer, without going over this number, ie without going bust.
You may be sitting at a virtual table with other players, but you are basically playing the dealer and no-one else.
If you play blackjack to a perfect strategy (ie you hit, stand, double down and split your cards at the correct time to give you the best probability of winning the game), you will enjoy some of the best odds of any game offered at a casino. The exact odds you will get will depend on the particular variant you are playing, of course, but you are pretty much guaranteed to enjoy more favourable odds than, say, playing slots if you play your cards correctly.
You start off by placing your bet. The dealer will then deal two cards to all the players and to himself. Your cards are usually dealt face up, while the dealer will have an "Up Card” (fave up) and a "Hole Card” (face down).
Blackjak is usually played with a deck containing from between one to eight decks. Cards 2 through to 10 score on their face values. Jacks, queens and kings score 10 points each. Aces can be played either with a value of 1 or 11.
A card worth ten points with an Ace is a Blackjack.
The other basic moves you need to know?
Doubling Down :doubling your first bet and receiving only one more card.
Splitting (splitting your cards where you have a pair and doubling your bet- you then run two hands alongside each other. The rules for doubling down and splitting vary between casinos and depend on the variant of blackjak that you are playing.
